The aim of Active Schools is for all children and young people to get and stay active. It is one of a number of national initiatives that has been established with the purpose of addressing Scotland’s inactive, unfit and increasingly overweight population.
Perth and Kinross has a network of Active Schools Coordinators who work together with school staff, parents and communities to offer children and young people the opportunities and motivation to adopt active, healthy lifestyles, now and into adulthood.
Our Coordinators are looking to recruit, support, train and sustain a network of volunteers including parents, senior pupils, coaches, leaders and teachers who in turn deliver physical activity and sport opportunities during out of school hours. We are able to offer access to free training opportunities to volunteers who meet the criteria.
Applications are welcome from people interested in volunteering as a sports / outdoor activity coach or leader.
The fundamental aim of the Active Schools network is to offer all children and young people the opportunities and motivation to adopt active, healthy lifestyles, now and into adulthood. If you're under the age of 18 you may need to be supervised, however, this could be arranged.
Experience required: We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals who have an interest in sport and physical activity and who have experience of working with children and young people.
Travel details: Ideally coaching would happen in a school near you or within the surrounding area.
Minimum age: 16
Expenses details: Travel expenses are available.
Training details: On-going training to suit individual volunteers, which may include child protection and first aid.
