Description

Set up in 2011, CTSI is funded by the Scottish Government and is overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors drawn from members of the Third Sector in Clackmannanshire. CTSI exists to enable the development of the Third Sector in Clackmannanshire, to meet the needs of the community and to represent the Third Sector in Community Planning and other partnerships.

As a response to Universal Credit becoming live in Clackmannanshire, we have an IT and Employability Trainer within the team, who has a focus on supporting claimants with the online system. This is done on a drop- in basis across the County.

As demand for this service is growing, we have recognised that more general IT and digital support is required in Clackmannanshire, and so we are looking for volunteers to assist in supporting people on a 1:1 basis. Tasks may include:

  • Assisting with online job searches
  • Helping to build confidence with general IT tasks (using Microsoft word to be able to write a CV or cover letter, setting up or using an email account etc)
  • CV/Cover letter/Application form assistance

This role will be based in various locations across the County, and so you would be able to choose the location(s) most suitable for you. We are looking for a commitment of at least one session a week, which usually last between 2-3 hours depending on location.

To carry out this role, you will need to be:

  • confident and capable using IT equipment yourself
  • be comfortable working with people on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Have excellent communication skills

Training will be provided, including an introduction to the IT and software you will be using. Our IT and Employability Officer will cover topics such as: benefits advice, listening skills, signposting to local services, confidentiality and information literacy.

We will also endeavour to provide additional training as and when possible, for example IT Train the Trainer courses.

Travel details: Expenses will be covered - 45p per mile, or full public transport costs when receipts are shown
