Specialist Skills Volunteer

  • VO71126

We would like to run informal, low key workshops such as art, creative writing, walking, meditation and more. We’d also like to provide essential well-being services such as hairdressing/barbering, chair massage and manicures. If you think you have a skill, expertise or an interest that our service users could benefit from, please get in touch at volunteering@simonscotland.org to find out about our next Volunteer Information Session.

Organisation aims and objectives

We enable a life off the street for people facing extremely difficult circumstances. We provide expert and compassionate support and advice and we work with people so they can resolve their homelessness as quickly as possible. People can receive services from our Holyrood Hub but we also go to them, either on the street or in their own accommodation.

Minimum of 1 shift a week. Most shifts are 4 hours long. We are asking people to commit to us for at least 6 months.

Experience required: We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about working with people from a range of difficult backgrounds. You need to be patient, compassionate and resilient with a willingness to ‘muck in’ where necessary. The ability to speak Polish, Romanian or Spanish would be a bonus.
Travel details: Holyrood Hub, 22 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8AF

Please note, organisations are currently experiencing a large volume of enquiries from people looking to help out. They may not always be able to meet this demand so please be patient, you may not receive a quick response or be assigned to a role.
