Volunteer Befrienders / Companions

We are looking for kind natured people to befriend and deliver hot nutritional meals to older people living at home. You will be providing a friendly social contact to the older people who may be isolated. Brightening their day and helping them feel connected to their community.

Volunteers will pick up and deliver hot freshly cooked meals in Peebles once per week in insulated food box. All Volunteers will receive an induction, training on hot food handling, and will be police checked under the Protection of Vulnerable groups (PVG) Scheme.

Organisation aims and objectives

We are a charitable Social Enterprise whose main purpose is to provide personal and vocational development to people in the community who are disadvantaged due to age, illness or a mental or Physical disability. We achieve this by providing a blended learning environment, a mix of e-learning and hands on training, delivered in a real working catering business. We generate income through our catering business, however we also rely on grants and funding to cover our costs.











Experience required: Current driver's license, reliable car, and private automobile insurance coverage. A willingness to drive in inclement weather. Ability to lift insulated food box. Must be sensitive to the needs of older and disabled adults. A willingness to be flexible
