To be a part of neighbourhood links team who work to help people to live independently and to partake in community and social activities. Our aim is to reduce loneliness and support people in crisis.
You will be providing one to one short-term practical support to an elderly person for up to 6 weeks. You will offering friendly and confidential support and companionship for older people.
Volunteer’s duties may include:
Help with short term shopping, collecting prescriptions.
Accompanying the service user on initial trips out to build confidence.
Enabling, supporting and encouraging people to develop/redevelop skills needed for daily independent living.
Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independance, Unity, Voluntary Service, and Universality- which inspire and guide all its actions.
Experience required: You need to have good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills. Desire to support others in the community
Good communication skills with a ability to listen.
Caring and supportive attitude.
Driving licence is not required but would be an advantage
