Description

Volunteering as a member of our Charity Retail Drivers team, you will use the Hospice vehicles to assist with the collection and distribution of stock between our 18 shops and warehouse around Glasgow. Each shop is unique within the community, therefore it is crucial that the stock is delivered to the selected shop to ensure we generate and maximise our income in support of the Hospice.

Promote and raise the profile of the Hospice throughout the local community and the importance of raising funds through the shops; Deliver and collect stock in a Hospice vehicle to the required location within specific timescales and in a safe manner; Carry out the transfer of donated goods between shop locations working in cooperation with the Shop Managers; Deliver and collect small furniture items to and from customers homes; Assist in maintaining vehicles to a good standard by promptly reporting any suspected defects; Undertake any other duties as and when necessary; Understand the importance of confidentiality at all times and maintain high standards with regard to communicating information in a confidential manner.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Hospice provides care for patients with a life limiting illness and support for those close to them. This is carried out through a range of services including in patient ward, day services, out patients and family support.

The opportunity takes place during school holidays and term time and is flexible.

Restrictions

Must be 18 or over.
Experience required: Ability to lift and handle goods, with regard to your own health & safety and others where appropriate and to be a confident driver and hold a clean driving license.

Taster details: Shadow shift can be arranged.
Training details: Induction and training offered on commencement, invite to Induction day to learn about the Hospice. Management support each day.
