Way Finder Volunteer

NHS Lanarkshire are looking for a Way Finder Volunteer who can contribute a few hours per week to help welcome and assist patients and visitors to the health centre, help signpost and if necessary, guide patients/visitors to relevant areas/departments and follow sign-in procedures.

As part of your role you will provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to patients and visitors and if necessary, provide information about the opportunities required by the visitors. You will explain the resources and services available to visitors and patients i.e. location of the main reception, lifts, toilets and treatment rooms. You may also be required to accompany patients/visitors to the health centre and if you have any concerns, bring to the attention of staff.

Please note volunteers must maintain confidentiality at all times and respect the privacy of patients and their families in the health centre environment at all times.

Organisation aims and objectives

NHS Lanarkshire is the local provider of health services in Lanarkshire. We provide services in 3 general hospitals and a large number of small community hospitals situated throughout the Lanarkshire area. There are many different volunteer roles available in lots of different locations.










2 - 3 hours per week Min commitment: 6 month


Volunteers must be 18yrs or over. References will be required.
Experience required: Good listening and communication skills; helpful and caring manner with a friendly disposition; the ability to work as part of the health care team; be motivated in volunteering activities undertaken.
