Description

Do you have a few hours to spare each week? Would you like to be involved in supporting parents in your local area?
Fife Gingerbread has been providing support in Fife for 30 years helping thousands of lone parent, vulnerable and disadvantaged families. Without the help and support of our volunteers, this would not be possible. As well as offering one-to-one support through our Support Workers, Fife Gingerbread also provide support to parents within various group settings which enhance confidence, skills and self-esteem whether it be from cooking groups, to walking groups and lots of things in between.

Organisation aims and objectives

Fife Gingerbread seeks to support and empower lone parent, vulnerable and disadvantaged families in need to promote their wellbeing and opportunities. It offers holistic support through various projects, working at the right pace and timescale for the client to overcome barriers such as poverty, isolation, trauma and poor mental health.

Minimum 2-4 hours per week. This is a guideline however, and there is flexibility so please don't let it deter you from applying. Minimum commitment of 3 months.

Restrictions

Experience required: Reliable. Enjoy working with adults. Good communication skills & confident in communicating with others within a group setting. Friendly.
Travel details: At the moment, Fife Gingerbread are looking to recruit volunteers within the Cowdenbeath and surrounding area (Lochgelly, Lochore, Lumphinnans, Ballingry, Kelty, etc). Travel throughout this area may be required depending on where groups are being held.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Fife Gingerbread will reimburse public transport costs or 45p per mile if travelling by car. Childcare costs for volunteers attending training and development days will also be covered but not for carrying out their volunteering role.
Training details: Fife Gingerbread induction training. Ongoing support and supervision through the volunteer coordinator. Support to access further training.
