ARCHIE Child Bereavement Service Volunteers

Description

ARCHIE Child Bereavement Service (part of the ARCHIE Foundation charity) provide direct support to bereaved children and young people throughout Grampian.

Due to an increased demand in our service we are seeking volunteers in a variety of areas including: responders to visit bereaved families, fundraisers, event and admin helpers and a treasurer.

Key objectives of our Volunteers are: To support the work of GCBN through contributing to the range of services provided. To make a positive difference to the lives of the children, young people and their families who have been affected by bereavement

Our responder service entails people visiting bereaved families and undertaking direct support work with children and young people and their families. We also run event days for children staffed up by our volunteers. We are particularly keen to recruit a volunteer with a financial or accounts background to take on our treasurer role.

Excellent support and training is provided to all volunteers e.g.: induction includes self awareness, policy and procedures of charity. Training in child protection and bereavement support. Support from coordinator and board of trustees.

Organisation aims and objectives

ARCHIE Child Bereavement Service provide direct support to bereaved children and young people throughout Grampian. We offer a wide range of services, which are carefully tailored to suit the individual needs of the child and their family. We recognise that every child is different and we believe that with appropriate support, information and guidance all children and young people will manage their grief.

Frequency and commitment details

Flexible times available. All help is greatly appreciated.

Restrictions

Experience required: Live in the Grampian area and are over 18 years of age. Good communication skills
Travel details: Our volunteer cadre covers Grampian but we aim to allocate requests to the nearest volunteer unless the volunteer expresses a wish to travel further.
Minimum age: 18

Expenses details: Mileage / bus fares are reimbursed upon receipt of expense claim.

Fresh Community Wellness is a growing grassroots charity, registered Scottish Charity Number, SC051346. We operate out of Aberdeen city, working within a (S.I.M.D) high neighbourhood to create lasting change and build a legacy for the future. Predominantly in Seaton neighbourhoods and outdoors, we work with volunteers/residents, with a salutogenic approach to community wellness. Scouts (Beaver, Cub or Scout) Leader - Flexible volunteer

Week by week, our volunteers inspire and provide #SkillsForLife for young people aged 4-25. We support Scouting in the Borders, Braid, Craigalmond, East Lothian, Edinburgh North East, Midlothian and Pentland areas Our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re supported by our everyday heroes - adult volunteers who shape young people’s lives for the better and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too. You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races, and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers, and skill sharers. We’re talking about minibus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family. Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local town hall, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread a group of very hungry eleven-year olds - no two Scout meetings are the same. Board members are responsible for the strategic management of each bureau, including oversight of planning, evaluation, staffing, managing finances and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. Skills and experience are welcome, but training is provided. Interest in the community and bureau is most important.
