MISS is a support group for women and partners who have suffered a miscarriage. It is a monthly group held at Danestone Community Centre in Aberdeen where we have a short introduction by a committee member explaining about the group and its aims, then a speaker from a health background then an activity from a local business which members can get involved with. The group starts at 715pm where we can get into the room for 7pm to set up, then finishes at 915pm with 15 minutes to tidy and clear up.
We are looking for a Volunteer Committee Member who will help with the setting up, introduction and packing up of the support group. We currently have a committee with a Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Events/Fundraising Coordinator and 3x Committee Members so the setting up, introduction and closing of the group will only be required for 3-4 groups per year.
We would also like the Volunteer to get involved with events. For 2018, we will have one fundraising event organising per quarter, this varies from bag packing at supermarkets to organising a fashion show which we are planning for the last quarter of 2018. We require help with bag packing, collection tins, general organising and fundraising.
The individual should be friendly, approachable and willing to help. We only require up to 5 hours of volunteering per month but we can easily increase this if the candidate has availability to.
The support group is held on the first Thursday of each month, weather permitting.
Good support is provided to all volunteers. Volunteers will be offered an induction to volunteering and the support group. There will be ongoing support through their volunteering.
For more details please contact Abi Clarke, Chairperson/Founder at email firstname.lastname@example.org or tel.: 07702 464874.
