Description

Our volunteers play an important role in providing company but also in keeping minds active by reading, talking and playing games with patients. The volunteer opportunity is structured and is usually two hours weekly or fortnightly. This can be in the morning or afternoon and covers four wards.

Organisation aims and objectives

RVS exists to help people maintain their independence and dignity, in their homes and communities. We do this through providing a number of services such as hospital and community services.

Two hours either weekly or fortnightly. Preferably a time commitment of six months.

Restrictions

Under 18’s must be buddied by another volunteer. This limits volunteer availability.
Experience required: Friendly personality, good conversationalist, active listening skills and the ability to understand the needs of vulnerable older people.
Travel details: Stirling Community Hospital is easily accessible via public transport.
Minimum age: 16

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Volunteers can claim 0.45pence per mile to and from the hospital. Bus fares if applicable.
