Volunteer Driver

Individuals will gain the opportunity to utilise their driving skills through using either our mini bus or MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) in transporting service users to and from CATH projects, pick up and deliver various items such as Starter packs etc. and accompany staff on a variety of outdoor activities, as required. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to interact with service users by having a coffee and a chat or being involved in the various activities.

Organisation aims and objectives

C.A.T.H. (Churches Action for the Homeless) is a local charity which supports, encourages and promotes the development and delivery of projects to relieve homelessness and poor housing, improve the conditions of life and generally aid the development of individuals who are homeless in the Perth & Kinross area. The organisation recognises the associated problems that homelessness presents and works to alleviate these and help maintain and improve the quality of life of our beneficiaries. CATH is a private company limited by guarantee and a charity regulated by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.











Due to type of work
Experience required: • Current, clean driving licence • Approachable, friendly and enthusiastic • Ability to work positively with a wide range of people, many who may be disadvantaged in some way • A non-judgemental approach • Reliable and good timekeeper • Work under minimum supervision after an agreed period • Ability to understand and follow all relevant policies and procedures • An interest in homelessness
Travel details: CATH Day Centre – Ladeside (Mini bus) Main office – 188-190 High Street, Perth (MPV) Various other locations as necessary.
Minimum age: 25


Expenses details: Travel expenses are available (capped amount)
Taster available: Yes
Taster details: Initially complete driving taster with designated worker then discuss further when completed.
Training details: Shadowed by staff members until confident enough with duties. Training needs of individuals would be tailored to requirements.
