Description

The Young Archaeologists’ Club in Orkney are recruiting a team of volunteers, so that we can offer young people 8-15 in Orkney more opportunities to get involved in the fascinating archaeology in the county.
We’re looking for Branch Assistants who will:
Develop, plan and deliver fun and educational sessions for young people, themed on archaeology.
Supervise young people during sessions
Work with the team to create an annual programme of sessions
Risk assess activities during planning
Work within a team of volunteers

Experience required: Reliable and trustworthy Excellent communication skills Excellent organisational skills Friendly and approachable Good at working with children Ability to support other volunteers Enthusiasm for archaeology A good role model for young people Able to adhere to YAC procedures for safeguarding and Health and Safety
Minimum age: 16

Support

Training details: Induction would be informal meeting by the YAC Orkney team. Support would also be provided by the local branch team members YAC UK offer volunteer support—and have a volunteer coordinator (Cecilia Tuvo). Training is provided in all necessary areas: e.g. First Aid; Child Protection; YAC Leaders Weekend
