Through shared gardening activities, environmental improvements and events, Grow 73 aims to improve the health and well-being of our community and make Rutherglen the place to be. Their group of volunteers meet every Monday morning from 10am until 11.30am/12pm at their base in Overtoun Park, the shipping container in the area of the park near to the BMX track and health centre.

The sessions are free and open to anyone.
As a volunteer with Grow 73 you will be part of a friendly, hardworking team, discovering new skills and interests and making a positive contribution to your community. This is an opportunity to have fun, meet new people and gain experience in a hands-on environment where you will see your efforts make a real difference. Please pop along and join in – no gardening experience or equipment required (just bring gardening gloves!) Grow 73 are currently in negotiations with SLC to lease 3 disused bowling greens in Overtoun Park to develop a fantastic community garden so this is a great time to join up. Volunteers must live in the G72/73 postcode area.

Due to Covid 19 we are not serving hot drinks so volunteers are encouraged to bring their own if they wish, as well as their own gloves if possible. Grow 73 is disinfecting the tools after use and will be abiding by social distancing rules.
Please bring comfortable , weather proof clothes as we generally don't have a place to shelter.

Grow 73 is an environmental charity aiming to help people of all ages and abilities to grow their own produce, learn how to lead more sustainable lives and support local biodiversity. Through shared gardening activities, environmental improvements and events we aim to improve the health and well-being of our community and make Rutherglen the place to be! Grow 73 are a charity focusing on developing growing opportunities in Rutherglen and Cambuslang and at the same time developing their community #communitygrowing They are establishing a Community Garden in Overtoun Park in Rutherglen: a place where all generations can work and learn together to grow fruit, vegetables and plants. A place to meet new friends, to come together with the common purpose of making a positive impact on the environment and the local community by transforming an unused piece of land. No Gender Restriction, All children must be accompanied by an adult/carer, otherwise no restrictions - we will try and find activity to suit all ages. Restricted to volunteers from Rutherglen and Cambuslang area.

Outdoor Education Assistant

An exciting opportunity to join the Under the Trees team, working in the great and beautiful outdoors whilst gaining valuable experience working with young children and young adults. You will potentially be working in all weathers and in all seasons - we can provide waterproofs! Under the Trees runs fun and educational sessions for school children in the Falkirk and Stirling areas, as well as a programme of public events for all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Events run all year round. As a Volunteer Education Assistant, there will be opportunities for you to do a range of the following: - Assist with Educational Sessions for school groups, including term-time forest schools. - Assist with sessions for the general public, including a monthly nature club for ages 0-13. - Assist with holiday play sessions and family events. - Plan and lead in activities. - Maintain resources effectively. - Keep session areas safe and tidy. - Desk-based activities in planning, creating materials and administration.

Local Litter pick

Litter isn’t nice. It spoils the places we live, work and visit. It devalues our beautiful country. Clean Up Scotland is our campaign to tackle litter. Allotment Market Stall Volunteers

The Allotment Market Stall provides good quality, well priced, locally grown fruit and vegetables and reduces waste. We have great opportunities this season for volunteers to be part of helping at our market stalls at the wonderful Seaton Park or Victoria Park, Aberdeen on a Friday. Main tasks include: • Help set up our market stall and sell fruit and vegetables in the park. • Our produce is grown on allotments in Aberdeen so you will help us to reduce food miles and food waste, to support the allotment sites and to provide fresh, local produce. • It's also a great way to meet people and spend time outdoors in the park. Volunteers will be fully trained and supported in our procedures and equipment. Volunteers will also have the support of the Stall Coordinator at all times. A fantastic opportunity to help make a real difference. All volunteers are greatly appreciated.
