Connect Alloa gained Charity status in February 2019 after Dave Crozier with support from St. Mungo’s Parish Church and his management team decided that the Community Audit of Alloa conducted in 2016-17 had unfortunately not progressed past the research phase and there was an identified need by the community of more provision being needed for youth, young adults and to support reducing social isolation.
Connect Alloa will run four weekly evening youth groups. These would include two for Primary sevens – third years of high school and the other to be for fourth years to 18 years of age. This has been designed this way to allow for appropriate interactions and transitions for all attendees.
At Connect Alloa we believe it is essential to enable young people to take ownership and responsibility for the youth projects as much as possible as we look to the future.
We hope to collaborate with young people and our wider community to raise awareness of what we do and to create new youth opportunities where possible.

Connect Alloa are looking to recruit a highly motivated and hard working individual as a
Youth Work Assistant to help support and develop the effective running of our new youth clubs.
It is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious person passionate about using their skills to provide effective support for the smooth running of the youth work, to ensure the charity can achieve its aims and allowing young people to help provide the evidence of what they want to drive the project forwards.

We would be looking for someone who would be willing to:

• Provide youth work support for a youth work sessions on a weekly basis (two evening sessions/4clubs per week)
• Facilitate a variety of planned activities for young people
between the age 11- 18 years old with a focus on helping young people to
create positive futures for themselves and their communities.
• Motivate young people to get involved in deciding and shaping a programme
of activities, enabling them to realise their potential and take positive action in
their lives.
• Proactively engage with young people building positive relationships with
them and their families.
• Help motivate young people to engage with the activities provided
• Ensure the equipment in the club is in working order keeping it clean
and tidy before and after use.
• Assist the lead worker in collating monitoring and evaluation information
• Attend youth work training, safeguarding training and supervision sessions.

Organisation aims and objectives

We will be running 2 evening clubs per week for Primary 7's - 3rd Years and 4th Years - 18 Year Olds.

Restrictions

Minimum age 16 to allow for appropriate age difference between young people yet still allow them to be mentors to youths. No maximum age and all welcome to interview.
Experience required: • Time to offer the youth group and its members. • Enthusiasm. • A positive view of young people. • An understanding of young people. • A sense of humour. • Willingness to learn. • Willingness to engage with the community and try new things. • Confident with social media • Skilled in Administrative duties such as making flyers and use of different medias
