Teapot Trust is a Scottish charity providing a UK wide programme of art therapy and creative interventions for chronically ill children in hospitals and hospices. We have a team of professional art therapists working across Scotland and London, including Royal Aberdeen’s Children's Hospital.
We are currently looking for volunteers to raise awareness and help to increase our presence in Aberdeen. Teapot Trust want to recruit representatives to volunteer at local events such as tea parties, sponsored runs/walks and give talks about the work we do. Volunteers could also help run an arts and crafts table, manage collecting cans and sell merchandise. We always welcome new fundraising ideas and will provide support and training depending on the event.
Depending on skill set we are looking for a volunteer to manage other volunteers on a local basis.
Excellent support is provided to all volunteers. A member of staff from Teapot Trust will explain to new volunteers what is required for each role and give training for relevant areas. There will be a named member of staff volunteers can also contact if they require support or wish to discuss their volunteering role.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Teapot Trust children’s charity uses art therapy as a way of helping young people cope with long term medical conditions. We know that these conditions can cause anxiety, anger or upset for children and families. Art therapy provides a way of expressing and dealing with feelings, helping children to feel more in control and to cope with their condition.

Frequency and commitment details

Flexible times available to volunteer. All help is greatly appreciated.

Restrictions

Experience required: We would like to hear from people who are upbeat, enthusiastic and eager to learn more about art therapy. A positive outlook is a must, and as you will be interacting with members of the public, you must be friendly, outgoing and polite.
Travel details: This role would be based in and around Aberdeen.
Minimum age: 18

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We pay public transport rates, provided this has been previously agreed and the volunteer has travelled via the cheapest travel method available.

Kincorth Community Centre Hub Volunteers

The Kincorth Community Centre Hub has great volunteer opportunities to assist with a range of activities at the Hub. Volunteer roles include supporting our busy community cafe, which has rapidly taken off, we currently open 9.30 -2.30, but our aim is to run a breakfast and supper club, as well as have the cafe open for activities in the evening. We have a diverse community that has a lot to offer e.g.: art classes/exercise group/dance class/music lessons and we are always open to new ideas-we are more or less a blank canvass. Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Level 2 Hygiene Certificate will be offered to those who want to volunteer/cook in the café. Aberdeen Arts Centre Volunteers

Aberdeen Arts Centre is an independent arts venue and registered charity in the heart of Aberdeen, Scotland — delivering a varied programme of theatre, dance, music, spoken word, comedy, film and creative learning events. We are currently looking for volunteers. You can combine all three of the roles below or partake in just one area that interests you. Opportunities to Volunteer include: • Front of House • Café • Bar Front of House volunteers are responsible for greeting the audience, showing them to their seats and ensuring their well-being throughout the evening. Hub/Coffee Shop support for LGBT+ Charity

We are looking for more amazing volunteers to join our Four Pillars team to help support the organisations daily operations. They would primarily help run our Coffee Shop and in turn support the LGBT+ Community who use this service. Volunteers would be an extension of the staff and asked to help meet and greet service users making any new visitors feel welcome and sharing information of any groups or events taking place which may be of interest to them. Many of our service users live alone, and have little family or friends to support them, so seeing a friendly face and being given the chance to have a cuppa and a chat for a few hours is invaluable to them. We have various groups which are held each evening, and these are peer lead, and run by our volunteers. These are closed sessions, so offer a safe, confidential environment for anyone attending. Volunteers support our staff to ensure the Coffee Shop and toilets are kept clean and tidy, throughout the day. They may also be asked support any events we run throughout the year. The largest event we run is Grampian Pride. Volunteers would be notified of any other one off opportunities by the Volunteer Coordinator as well as being invited to attend any of the internal or external training sessions which may take place. They can also participate in the brand new RAVE Scheme (Rainbow Award 4 Volunteer Excellence) which is an activity rewards system to recognise and encourage volunteer dedication and skill development within the organisation.
