Organisation aims and objectives

Girlguiding Scotland is Scotland’s leading charity for girls and young women. Every year we empower 50,000 girls to be their best and face the challenges of growing up today. We’ve been doing this through adventure, friendship and fun for over 100 years. We inspire girls. We give them space to grow, and strive to ensure that each one of them can get involved – no matter what their background or ability. We have more than 12,000 amazing volunteers who, along with our fantastic supporters, make that happen. We’re dedicated to creating a better world for girls and young women. What we do makes a positive difference to the lives of all girls and young women across Scotland – not just our members.

To keep our members safe, anyone over 18 who wishes to volunteer for Girlguiding must complete the recruitment and vetting process relevant to the role they're applying for.
Experience required: No experience of youth work or girlguiding is needed as we'll provide tailored training and support.
Travel details: Opportunities are available in every local authority. Complete our online enquiry form on our website and we'll put you in touch with a volunteer in your area who can provide more details about local opportunities.
Minimum age: 18

Taster details: If you plan to volunteer with girls, ask your local volunteer contact (who will be in touch after you register interest) about going on a taster visit to a local group (either where you hope to volunteer, or somewhere else). It's a great way to get an idea of how meetings are run, talk to other volunteers and pick up activity tips and ideas.
Training details: We'll match the training and support to your needs. If you decide you want to take on a leadership role within one of our unit teams, you'll be allocated a mentor who will help you progress through Girlguiding's own Leadership Qualification.
