To encourage and promote the development of powerchair football as a sport within the community of Ayrshire. Ayrshire Tigers PFC is a community-based Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) based in Ayr which works in partnership with the Scottish Powerchair Football Association (SPFA) to provide equal opportunity for wheelchair users in Ayrshire to engage in team sport. The Club is an independent organisation run by its own board of trustees which is elected by its members. The club is focused on providing opportunities to play, coach and support powerchair football and is open to everyone. The team is currently playing in the Scottish Powerchair Football Championship. The Club was formed to benefit wheelchair users living in Ayrshire to engage in team sport and prevent isolation by offering a place for people to come and feel welcome, have fun and be part of a team.

Role Title: Secretary

Role description of volunteering opportunity:
An opportunity to work as part of a team and to develop your communicative skills. The Club Secretary is the hub of the club, acting as the club's communicator with our membership and external organisations. The Secretary plays a key role in supporting the Chair and being part of a small and committed team. The secretary also plays a vital role in assisting the committee ensure the Club runs smoothly.

Duties:

• Preparing for meetings
• Sending notices of all meetings to members within the time required by the governing document
• Making arrangements for meetings – booking rooms, arranging refreshments, ensuring access for all attending
• Preparing the agenda in consultation with the Chair and distributing the agenda with any background papers
• Checking that members have carried out tasks agreed at the previous meeting.
• Participating in meetings
• Ensuring that the minutes of the previous meeting are accurate, agreed and signed and dated on each page by the Chair
• Taking and producing minutes of the meeting, noting the names of those attending and apologies, major decisions, any votes taken and agreed further actions
• Distributing minutes in a timely manner.

A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
This role will primarily take place within the individual’s own home therefore access to appropriate technology is required although if this is not feasible they will support you in any means possible.
On occasions you may be required to visit training to meet players and coaches and attend committee members when required.

In return for your time, the club will provide any training deemed necessary and put you through your PVG.

Restrictions

Experience required: Admin/Secretarial experience is preferred. It would be useful if the person had their own computer as a lot of the work is done at home. The ideal person would have good English, listening skills, have good IT skills, comfortable with production/maintenance of documents/spreadsheets etc.
Travel details: Public transport expenses reimbursed on production of tickets. The Club has a clear Volunteer Expenses Policy. Mileage may be paid up to 45p per mile.
