Description

Help make a difference to the lives of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse by joining the Board at Safe Space, a specialist trauma agency based in Dunfermline providing one to one counselling and a range of therapeutic groups. Safe Space has supported individuals, parents, and relatives for over 25 years, and they are now looking to grow their board with people who can work with them to develop our ongoing values, goals, and objectives to ensure that they continue to provide a healing and supportive journey for survivors.

Safe Space are looking for committed individuals who can share their relevant skills and experience to help support the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity alongside the Chair and other established board members. They would be particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience in counselling and therapy work, work with vulnerable people, and/or knowledge of the Scottish voluntary sector.

Due to the nature of the work at Safe Space, we ask for a minimum age of 18 for volunteers
Experience required: Each board member is appointed based on their experience, contacts and interests, and applications are welcome from anyone with relevant skills and experience to share with the charity. As the Directors wish to expand the range of skills on the board, they would be particularly interested to hear from applicants with experience in counselling and therapy work, those working with vulnerable people, and/or with knowledge of the Scottish voluntary sector.
Travel details: Dunfermline Business Centre, Izatt Avenue, Dunfermline KY11 3BZ There are many public transport links nearby with bus stops and Dunfermline train station within walking distance as well as unlimited free parking on site at the business centre.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed. Mileage rate is 45p per mile.
Training details: Board members are asked to attend a brief induction course at Safe Space to learn more about the organisation.

They aim to use public greenspace to benefit and protect the wellbeing, health, recreation and leisure of the community, while also providing education, training and volunteering opportunities. Based in Kirkcaldy, Nourish Support Centre provides much needed and life-changing support to families in Fife who have additional support needs. Having a child with disabilities affects the whole family and not only causes worries and anxieties, it often causes loneliness, isolation, poor mental health and poverty. Providing holistic support in a one stop shop, they know the different challenges facing families with additional support needs and they understand the importance of being able to access a wide range of emotional, practical, and financial support in one place. Nourish are looking for a board member to attend regular board meetings (typically monthly). The estimated time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per month, including meeting preparation and follow-up. Join Nourish in making a difference and contributing to the success of their organization.

Following a very successful International Street Food festival last year we are launching a new Community Interest Company to make this an annual event. We want to demonstrate how much our area benefits from having people of different backgrounds and cultures enrich our society. The festival is a mix of community groups whom we help to take part and commercial enterprises who pay for their stalls.
