Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK) is the only charity the UK to provide support to the more than 60 types of muscle-wasting conditions. With 110,000 children and adults affected by this life-limiting condition, it is essential to raise awareness with fundraising groups being a key representative in the community. Our fundraising groups are the local face of MDUK, raising vital funds and constantly raising the profile of the charity so that we can reach more people and their families affected by a muscle wasting condition.

In order to be able to provide everyone the help and support they need; we are asking for your skills and enthusiasm to help us grow our fundraising groups! We need people to join our various groups across the UK and make Muscular Dystrophy UK the best-known local charity!

The volunteering times are flexible.

Restrictions

Travel details: This is a truly flexible role where you can choose where you do it! Any travel can be agreed with Regional Development Manager beforehand to cover your local area with mileage covered at 45p per mile.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We provide mileage and other expenses that are agreed with the Regional Development Manager prior to incurring. The charity pay 45p per mile.
Training details: Relevant guidance and excellent support is provided to all volunteers. We provide full induction and opportunity for ongoing training to fit the individual and what they wish to learn that benefits them in their role for the charity.

Open Gardens Volunteer

Are you passionate Gardening or have horticultural knowledge? In this role of Community Gardens Ambassador, you'll play a key part in helping to find gardens to open in your local area. You will be a key ambassador for the charity and a link to the gardens. Key Responsibilities: Community Building: • Inspire individuals to open their gardens to the public, creating a unique opportunity for community engagement. • create connections among community gardens, encouraging the exchange of ideas and collaboration. Event planning and coordination: • help to organise and coordinate Community Garden events that showcase the gardens in your area. • Provide support for garden hosts (you will be provided with resources and support for this), ensuring their success in attracting visitors and generating income. Promotion and marketing: • Use your local knowledge to promote Open Garden opportunities and events, and explain why this is important for Muscular Dystrophy UK • Support the open gardens in their fundraising endeavours.

Fundraising Group Coordinator

We are looking to build Fundraising Groups across the UK, these groups will consist of 3-8 people who will help us extend our reach by fundraising, attending talks and presentations, creating local networks, building awareness of the charity and understanding how we can help people living with a muscle wasting condition all within their community. The role of the FG Co-ordinator is to work with the Regional Development team to help us get this project off the ground, you will often have catch ups with the team on a one-to-one basis and support with admin tasks to help us gather and collate information needed to ask people to join a group. Along with other staff and volunteers you'll be a core part of the local MDUK community, meeting new people and making a difference to those living with a muscle wasting condition.

Guide Dogs - Join a community of amazing people and incredible dogs as a Deputy coordinator for one of our fundraising groups

n this role you will be helping and supporting the Group coordinator within our fundraising groups to organise events and secure new opportunities for fundraising by; · Supporting in organising and attending events and collections in your local area, such as Great Guide Dogs Tea Party. Informing your key contact and relevant members of these events. · Supporting in building relationships with local networks, organisations, schools, and social groups to host events or to name their own puppy. · Delegating tasks and responsibilities to other volunteers within your fundraising group in the absence of the Fundraising Group Coordinator. · Supporting in making sure fundraising policies and procedures are followed; including all roles are maintaining their required records. If you feel you don't tick all the boxes please still get in touch to see how you could help as we are flexible, where possible, and would love to have you onboard. Agreed volunteering out of pocket expenses are paid according to the Guide Dogs volunteer expenses policy. Full training and support provided for this role.
