Description

The Care Van, which Bethany runs in partnership with Edinburgh City Mission, is an all year round service that offers food and support to people who are experiencing homelessness in the city. Duties include:
Check the Care Van for damage or problems before leaving.
Drive the Care Van, following the usual route.
Stay close to the Care Van at all times in case it needs moved in a hurry.
Report any incidents or damage to the Care Van.

Bethany Christian Trust is a national charity whose mission is to relieve the suffering and meet the long term needs of homeless and vulnerable people in Scotland. We share a big vision – to work together towards the aim of Ending Homelessness in Scotland. We support people in a broad range of ways including: housing, education and employment, addiction recovery, emotional well-being, street outreach, community integration, offending reduction and social support

An individual can volunteer anywhere from once a month to once a year. This can vary depending on need.

Restrictions

Experience required: Drivers must hold a full UK driving licence, be 25+ years old, have at least two years driving experience and annually submit a Driver Form and copy of their licence to Bethany. We are looking for volunteers who have an understanding of appropriate boundaries and a willingness to work within these.
Travel details: Volunteers are to meet at the Care Van located behind Bethany Christian Centre, at Jane Street.
Minimum age: 25

Training details: Induction provided.
Support: Wheelchair Access/Disabled Access Toilet
