Description

Midlothian Wildflowers are seeking volunteers to help conserve and regenerate some of Midlothian’s neglected meadows. Our conservation volunteers do a range of activities, ranging including species monitoring, sowing and harvesting seed, and meadow raking to maintain balanced meadow soils. All abilities are welcome and no experience is necessary. You will be fully supported and working alongside nature-loving folk!

Organisation aims and objectives

MWF care for, create and conserve wildflower meadows, habitats and green spaces in Midlothian while supporting the positive health and wellbeing of the community through conservation, rewilding and community solidarity. MWF are a grassroot community group engaged in supporting the local ecology, biodiversity and communities that rely on wild green spaces to feel well. Restrictions

Experience required: No experience required. Volunteers should show interest in practical conservation and be keen to engage with the local environment.
Travel details: Number 46 bus route
Minimum age: 16

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: MWF would reimburse bus fares with a valid ticket or documentation supporting the purchase of ticket. Expenses would be paid to volunteers through bank transfer on a monthly basis. MWF does not support the use of cars into greenspaces therefore only provides expenses for local bus travel.
Training details: MWF will provide an induction to all volunteers. Conservation Volunteers will be provided with the necessary training, equipment and support on site and online. MWF will hold Volunteer Meet Ups where people can support each other and develop new ideas with our support.
