Basketball Assistant Coach

Fife Steel Basketball Club (FSBC) are looking for enthusiastic Assistant Basketball Coaches to help with the delivery with the sport of basketball for players during practice and games. The responsibilities of an Assistant Basketball Coach is to support and deliver fundamental basketball skills to players at a high level, including supporting team sportsmanship, encouraging players enjoyment in the sport, and providing mentorship.
To be successful as an Assistant Basketball Coach, you should have an awareness of basketball and its rules and have good communication skills. Ideally an Assistant Basketball Coach should be in good physical condition and have good leadership skills.

Organisation aims and objectives

A community basketball club, developing core skills in the sport of basketball, Fife Steel provides daily training sessions in the evenings to members aged 7 - 60+ mainly but not exclusively in Kirkcaldy. The club supports Balwearie High School to provide a School of Basketball programme for S1-S3, and also works with Fife Active Schools to deliver sessions to P5-P7. The club is mainly funded through monthly membership payments.

1.5 hours per night, twice per week for training. 2hours once per month for games.

Restrictions

Experience required: Understanding of the game and rules. Previous experience with basketball. Good physical condition. Be able to motivate players. Good leadership skills
Travel details: Fife Steel Basketball Club is based in Kirkcaldy delivering the sport of basketball to the local community of Kirkcaldy and Central Fife.
Minimum age: 16

Expenses details: Travel expenses will be discussed with volunteers on an individual basis.
Training details: The person will be given an initial induction to the club, then asked to shadow existing Coaches. PVG and valid First Aid Certificate required.

In-water Volunteer

Inclusive Surfing Scotland is a new charity that delivers surfing experiences to children and adults with disabilities that restrict their access to the waves. We are recruiting in-water volunteers to support our surfers in the water, helping to push them into waves, catch them in the shallows and provide support and encouragement throughout. Edinburgh Kiltwalk - Course Marshals

Volunteer as a Course Marshal at the Edinburgh Kiltwalk on Sunday 15 September. You will be positioned at key points along the route to direct walkers and provide them with support, encouragement and motivation when they need it most. This is a fun-filled role and one of the most important to our walkers. Noise makers will be provided! Shift times are 8am - 1:30pm, 8:30am - 2pm, 9am - 3pm and 12pm - 6:30pm. Our walkers rely on the encouragement and motivation they receive from our volunteers and many report that this is what ultimately gets them across the finish line. Be part of a feel-good event, soak up the Kiltwalk atmosphere and meet like-minded people. You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills and gain valuable experience in the events industry. It truly is a rewarding day! Kiltwalk is Scotland’s largest mass participation walking event with over 145,000 people taking part since 2016. The kind-hearted Kiltwalk community have taken big strides for charities close to their hearts and together with The Hunter Foundation have managed to raise a staggering £42.5 million to date. All funds raised have been distributed to 3,330 Scottish Charities.
