Fife Steel Basketball Club (FSBC) are looking for enthusiastic Basketball Head Coaches to be responsible for instructing players during practice and games. The responsibilities of a Head Basketball Coach is to deliver fundamental basketball skills to players at a high level, including creating team sportsmanship, maintaining players enjoyment in the sport, and providing mentorship.
To be successful as a Head Basketball Coach, you should have solid knowledge of basketball and its rules, be able to develop winning strategies, and have good communication skills. They are looking for a Head Coaches who can enthuse players by delivering the sport of basketball to players of various ages through different evening training sessions during the week.
They deliver Basketball Sessions to a wide group abilities and ages from 7 years to 76 year olds, for both Boys, Girls, Men and Women.

Organisation aims and objectives

A community basketball club, developing core skills in the sport of basketball, Fife Steel provides daily training sessions in the evenings to members aged 7 - 60+ mainly but not exclusively in Kirkcaldy. The club supports Balwearie High School to provide a School of Basketball programme for S1-S3, and also works with Fife Active Schools to deliver sessions to P5-P7. The club is mainly funded through monthly membership payments.

1.5 hours per night, twice per week for training. 2hours once per month for games.

Restrictions

Experience required: Understanding of game and the rules and previous experience with basketball. Teaching/coaching experience would be advantageous. Ability to develop ideas to optimise performance. Follow Basketball Scotland fundamentals requirements. Must be in good physical condition. Be able to motivate players and have good leadership skills.
Travel details: Fife Steel Basketball Club is based in Kirkcaldy delivering the sport of basketball to the local community of Kirkcaldy and Central Fife. Training sessions are delivered mainly at Balwearie High School, St Andrews High School and Windmill Community Campus at various times from 6pm to 9pm.

Expenses details: Travel expenses will be discussed with volunteers on an individual basis.
Training details: The person will be given an initial induction to the club, then asked to shadow existing Coaches, the Head Coach will be given training by Basketball Scotland to Team Coach level. The Head Coach will also be required to have a new PVG with Basketball Scotland and valid First Aid Certificate. The Head Coach will be supported by Fife Steel Basketball Club Lead Head Coach.
