Youth Group Volunteer

Description

We are looking for volunteers to help at our various youth provisions. We have a youth art group that runs every Friday evening and we also have children and families cooking classes.

The volunteer role will involve working with our youth worker and project worker to deliver art groups, cooking groups or other groups as part of our youth provision. The role will include, setting up and tidying up before and after sessions, working with the young people on various projects, engaging with the young people to help them develop and to find out what they would like to do.To adhere to our safeguarding policy and follow all relelvant procedures.

Organisation aims and objectives

Boomerang was set up in 1999 to provide a safe, comfortable and friendly centre in the heart of the community to stimulate community involvement and development with an aim to community regeneration. The project provides a user led centre assisting a variety of groups with varying interests to increase confidence, promote skills and strengthen individual identity and responsibilities.

Restrictions

Experience required: An interest in working with young people/youth work. Either an art background or interest in cooking depending on which sessions you are volunteering for.

Taster details: Can trial one session to see if the role suits
Training details: Shadowing another volunteer/staff, any other relevant training will be offered. Will be required to be a member of the PVG scheme.

Supporting staff to plan and facilitate group activities for primary aged children in Kinship care, this group volunteering role would suit someone who is confident and enthusiastic and wants to work with young people. The volunteering role would be from 4pm to 6.30pm every Tuesday during term time, and would support the facilitator to set up the activity and clean up afterwards. There may be additional opportunities during the school holidays.

Woodcraft Folk - Children's group leaders and helpers - Leith

Woodcraft Folk are looking for group leaders and helpers for our Leith group for children and young people from 6 to 16 . The group meets one evening a week in term time but may organise day trips and camps in school holidays. Our groups aim to develop children and young people's confidence and awareness of the world. We promote big ideas like equality, co-operation and environmental sustainability through fun activities. We do a wide range of activities including games, craft, exploring nature, bushcraft, drama, discussions and songs. As well as weekly group nights we take part in day events and camps with groups from across Scotland. Aberdeen Arts Centre Volunteers

Aberdeen Arts Centre is an independent arts venue and registered charity in the heart of Aberdeen, Scotland — delivering a varied programme of theatre, dance, music, spoken word, comedy, film and creative learning events.
