Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. Cats are at the centre of everything we do and our objectives are: homing, neutering and educating people about cats and their care. We help thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers, staff and supporters. A bit about this role We are currently recruiting Education Speaker Volunteers all over Scotland to deliver education initiatives across the country. Our education speaker volunteers have the important and exciting role of raising awareness of Cats Protection. They deliver pre-prepared talks, help spread messages around feline welfare and act as the voice of cats in their local communities. They also deliver talks to both adults and children in a variety of settings. Interacting with children is especially important, as they are the cat owners of the future, and by building their understanding and knowledge we can make the world a better place for cats. What can you expect to be doing? Being part of a passionate team of other volunteers and employees Delivering pre-prepared talks to schools and community groups Hosting information sessions Providing feedback on talks where necessary Taking part in promotional events such as careers days at schools and colleges Delivering education craft sessions at community talks and workshops A bit more information about this role and the team At Cats Protection, we deliver a large number of talks to schools and see lower demand for talks on weekends and in the evenings. For this role, we are therefore looking for someone who has availability for talks during the day as this is when we have the highest demand for talks. There may be opportunity for occasional evening and weekend talks but the majority will take place during the day. The role will suit someone who is a confident public speaker and who is enthusiastic about animal welfare. It would also provide a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience in a school/classroom setting. As well as photos and stories, we use an online learning website to make our sessions fun and interactive. We provide full training and support, but basic IT skills will be needed and a willingness to use technology as part of the role.

Volunteering Matters is a national volunteering and social change charity. We believe that everyone in the UK should have the opportunity to thrive. We bring people together, through the power of volunteering, to resolve some of society's most complex issues. Our national project, Getting Together Matters, operates across Scotland, England and Wales. Getting Together Matters deliver virtual activities; online zoom groups and telephone only groups, to help people aged 50+ feel connected & reduce social isolation and loneliness. We have a timetable of events and activities each week and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help run the activities. If you can spare an hour a week, have a computer & internet, and would be prepared to be consistent, enthusiastic & above all kind and considerate - we would love to hear from you! Running the groups means logging on to the specific platform (Zoom or Telephone), at regular times, facilitating conversations and enjoying communication amongst our 50 + groups. We would give training, arrange the set ups & show you how - cover the groups with you for a while, then you would facilitate one of our weekly groups. Ideally Mondays or Fridays are good days, but we are open to what people have to offer & we can work from there. “A digital world accessible to all” Award winning IT charity AbilityNet is looking for IT Support volunteers to help people get the most out of technology. We support older and disabled people to use technology, from setting up a new device, to showing how to use zoom or do an internet food shop. The role would take place in your local area, face to face with clients or help over Teamviewer. You don’t need to be a tech guru to help out. If you use a computer at home or work, and perhaps support family and friends with their tech issues, you are likely to have the skills we are looking for.
