Description

Muiravonside Country Park combines 170 acres of woodland and parkland with a demonstration farm, play parks, river walks and historic ruins. We run an extensive programme of public events, including family-focused nature play, guided walks, outdoor yoga, farm events, open days and seasonal events. We are looking for volunteers to assist the park staff in the running of our events, engaging with our visitors and enthusing them about Muiravonside park and farm and our wonderful wildlife.

Frequency and commitment details

3 hours per month

Restrictions

Experience required: No previous experience is necessary, however this is an outdoor role and so you must be reasonably fit and able to walk around the country park. Volunteers must be able to follow instructions and adhere to the council's health and safety policy. This role will involve working alongside park staff, other volunteers and members of the public, so a friendly disposition and willingness to chat is a must for this role. All training will be provided.
Travel details: The Loan, By Linlithgow, EH49 6LW Muiravonside can be accessed by car and there is ample car parking available on site.

Support

Taster available: Yes
Taster details: Prospective volunteers are encouraged to visit Muiravonside for a chat with the ranger to find out more about the role. New volunteers will be given a health and safety induction and talked through the risk assessment. Events will always be led by a ranger who will provide support and training on tasks.
