  • VO96762

Description

Woodcraft Folk are looking for group leaders and helpers for our Leith group for children and young people from 6 to 16 . The group meets one evening a week in term time but may organise day trips and camps in school holidays.

Our groups aim to develop children and young people's confidence and awareness of the world. We promote big ideas like equality, co-operation and environmental sustainability through fun activities.

We do a wide range of activities including games, craft, exploring nature, bushcraft, drama, discussions and songs. As well as weekly group nights we take part in day events and camps with groups from across Scotland.

If you are interested in joining our friendly team of volunteers please get in touch with Fleur Gayet, Scottish Officer by emailing scotland@woodcraft.org.uk or phoning 07833 051 557. We will provide induction information, taster sessions and training opportunities.

Organisation aims and objectives

Woodcraft Folk are a UK wide voluntary organisation and a registered educational charity. We run groups for children and young people from toddlers to teenagers. Groups meet weekly (school term time) and go on daytrips and overnight hostelling and camping trips at weekends and school holidays. Groups do a wide range of activities including games, crafts, cooking and drama. The organisation has an emphasis on outdoor activity including exploring nature, and bushcraft. At our groups children and young people have fun, make friends and develop confidence. We encourage them to celebrate and question the world they live in. We aim for our activities to raise awareness of local and global issues, and promote co-operation, social justice and environmental sustainability.
