We are looking for people who would go on a rota to collect and take home members from the Pensioners Club at Inchgarth Community Centre on Monday afternoons. The Pensioners Club is held every Monday from 1-3pm, while the driver would need to be at Inchgarth at 12.15pm to get the bus and start the round. The role is only driving, there will be an escort on the bus to support and manage every needs of our members. The driver is welcome to stay in the centre during the Club, and we'll be happy to help you with coffee and a slice of cake! At the end of the club, the driver would take home our members. To be able to drive you would just need a D1 on your drivers license. The Pensioners Club makes a huge difference in the lives of our members. All volunteers are greatly appreciated and provided with excellent support. We are looking for volunteers who can help Care Experienced people who may feel lonely and isolated this Christmas.  Our Christmas volunteers will assist in providing transport to and from the venue on Christmas day. Pickups from 10.30am (depending on location) and drop offs will start at 3pm. This role will involve interacting with people aged 18 plus through providing a memorable day for so many on a day that can be extremely challenging. Who Cares? Scotland is a people organisation. Grandmentors is an award-winning, inter-generational mentoring programme, operating in various locations across the UK. We are currently looking for new Volunteer Mentors to join our programme in Midlothian which launched in 2023. It is widely recognised that care-experienced young people are some of the most disadvantaged in society. Many are in care because they have experienced, or are at risk of, neglect and/or abuse. Security and stability are often missing from their lives. We recruit, train and support volunteer mentors (normally but not exclusively aged 50+) who draw on their wealth of professional and personal life experience and skills to support young people (aged 16-26) through life transitions on their pathway to independence. Grandmentors is all about empowering and positive relationships, aligning to “The Promise” that Scotland made to its care experienced population. Young people are listened to, heard, and responded to. They benefit from safe, consistent loving relationships, and access to meaningful support to boost mental & physical wellbeing, resilience, and confidence. Grandmentors facilitate conversations around keeping well, coping strategies, self-care, and self-management. Each young person alongside their Grandmentor co-produces a bespoke support plan and set goals based on their needs. They explore and review the young person’s challenges, and priorities. These range from enhancing mental & physical health and wellbeing, dealing with stress and conflict, support to access sustainable and appropriate housing, career, and education goals, budget planning and more.
