Description

• We are looking for volunteers, who have a warm, friendly, and welcoming manner, who have good organisational and communication skills and lots of patience, to join our team.
• We are establishing a food pantry that will respond to local need to address poverty.
• Families/individuals who use the pantry will become members of the Pantry and in exchange for a small fee, they will be able to choose goods to take away.
• It is essential that all times, that we provide a welcoming atmosphere where customers feel safe to use the service that we provide.
• Your role will also include stock management, identifying gaps in stock and contributing ideas to make this service work for the community that it serves.

Organisation aims and objectives

2. The purpose of the Association shall be charitable, namely to promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of East Musselburgh and its environs without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, the objects of the Association being: (a) The advancement of education in the area of benefit (b) The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational facilities with the object of improving the conditions of life for those people living and working in area of benefit (c) The advancement of citizenship and community development in the area of benefit

Restrictions

Experience required: • Good verbal communication skills • Good problem-solving and organisational skills • Non-judgemental and sensitive approach • Positive attitude • Committed to helping others in need. • Able to maintain confidentiality.
Travel details: Trains to Wallyford, Buses to Tranent/into East Lothian e.g. 26. 44, 113, 124, all stop close by the Centre

Expenses details: Travel to the Centre can be claimed for and will be reimbursed monthly, or more frequently if required.
Taster details: We will offer an informal interview that will include information about the Pantry and the volunteer role and an induction session.
