We are looking for Winter Warriors to help grit our local pavements and keep Stockethill, Cornhill, and the surrounding areas safe for residents of all ages and physical abilities. As a Winter Warrior, you will be a part of a team of local residents. Warriors work in pairs to grit pavements and keep the pavements safe to use. The team receives advance warning of bad weather and our Coordinator is responsible for managing the Warriors to ensure best use of resources. You will receive training and all equipment is provided. A fantastic opportunity to help make a real difference for people and the community during winter. All volunteer help is greatly appreciated. Interested in inspiring young people in the STEM subjects? Join a national network of 32,000 STEM Ambassadors in the UK and 5,000 in Scotland! STEM Ambassadors volunteer to inspire the next generation and help young people to develop the skills, confidence and mindset to build successful futures in STEM. You can volunteer as a STEM Ambassador to give career talks, run STEM clubs, provide advice on STEM subjects, run STEM workshops, help young people with STEM competitions - anything really which will ignite their imagination. STEM Ambassadors can find their own opportunities to volunteer or can search the STEM Ambassador digital platform for both face to face and online requests placed by teachers and community groups. The platform will connect you with the teacher/community group making the request and you can message to arrange the activity. All of your volunteering can be recorded on the platform to build a detailed summary of what you have been involved with. All STEM Ambassadors undergo a PVG Disclosure check and undertake online induction training before being authorised to work with young people. The programme is funded through the UK Government, with SSERC being the local Scottish delivery partner. SSERC will provide you with regular updates, training sessions and networking opportunities to keep your knowledge up to date and relevant for working in schools and community groups.

Are you looking for a great way to meet people and learn new skills? Become a qualified official with Boxing Scotland and gain the opportunity to help develop grassroots boxing across Scotland. Full support and training will be provided to applicants. Long term opportunities for skillful applicants include the ability to officiate at national Scottish and British championships, and if volunteers show high expertise in the field, to be put forward for global events such as European championships, Commonwealth, and Olympic Games.

We are looking for welcoming and enthusiastic volunteer(s) to lead short health walks in Moray -- currently these gentle walks are based in Forres, Fochabers, Hopeman, Elgin, Cullen, Buckie, Lossiemouth, Dufftown, Rothes and Keith. It's sociable, relaxed, fun and flexible -- and there is great support for our volunteers. Becoming a volunteer walk leader requires you to commit around an hour or so of your time weekly (but there is room for flexible dates!) and to sometimes complete a small amount of preparation & paper work for the walk. Health walks encourage people who have not exercised for a while, find walking boring, or lack confidence to join a walking group because they think they will not be able to keep up. Walks are free, short, low intensity, safe and social and are usually followed by a cup of tea or coffee and a chat! Over the next year we plan to build upon our network of gentle exercise activities across the Moray region. To help us achieve this we are looking for friendly and supportive volunteers who enjoy walking, meeting new folk sharing the wide ranging health and well- being benefits of gentle physical activity. Volunteers all receive Paths for All Walk Leader training to give them the skills and confidence to lead walks in your community. You will be encouraged to join a Health Walk and chat to a Health Walk leader before your training so that you have an idea of how it works on the ground. Volunteer walk leaders receive on-going support from the local Health Walk co-ordinator, too
