Organisation aims and objectives

CamGlen Radio is a community-focused radio station operating in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang areas. As a community radio, its primary purpose and roles are: Community Engagement and Representation: CamGlen Radio serves as a voice for the local community, representing diverse groups and interests within Rutherglen and Cambuslang. It provides a platform for local issues, interests, and music, often featuring content that might not be covered by mainstream media. Promoting Local Talent and Culture: The station plays a significant role in promoting local artists, musicians, and cultural events. It features local music, interviews with local figures, and coverage of events, thereby supporting and nurturing local talent and cultural activities. Information and Entertainment: CamGlen offers a mix of entertainment and information. This includes music programmes, talk shows, news, and other content relevant to residents of CamGlen. Education and Training: CamGlen Radio offers opportunities for community members to learn about radio broadcasting, media production, and other related skills. Fostering Community Cohesion: By bringing together various members and groups within the community, the station fosters a sense of cohesion and collective identity. It acts as a hub where community members can share stories, experiences, and information, strengthening community bonds. Platform for Discussion and Debate: CamGlen Radio provides a space for open discussion and debate on local issues, allowing for a diverse range of opinions and perspectives to be heard. In essence, CamGlen Radio's role extends beyond just broadcasting; it acts as a facilitator for community engagement, cultural expression, and local development.

Restrictions

No Gender Restriction, No previous skills or experience required for residents in Cambuslang and Rutherglen. Relevant media experience preferred for volunteers outwith these areas.
Experience required: Arts / Music / Drama / Crafts, Caring,Good Listener,Patient,Reliable / Dependable,Team Player,Trustworthy,
Travel details: The opportunity takes at multiple location across South Lanarkshire Across South Lanarkshire,Rutherglen
Minimum age: 16

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Training details: Core training consisting of inductions to Healthy n Happy and CamGlen Radio, creating radio content, peer support, understanding of OFCOM laws, audio production and editing and interviewing. Ongoing training is available.

These are weekly evening drama classes for children and young people aged 8-16. Pupils will learn all about theatre and performing, with the opportunity to devise and stage a performance for the end of term. Volunteers will be required to help with running the classes. Activities could include setting up the space, running drama games and directing. Participants are invited to assist with lesson plans if interested. AGP’s core belief is that everyone has a right to a cultural life – and that the arts can transform individuals and communities. Much more than a theatre, The Gaiety continues to make a difference across Ayrshire as well as in Ayr. Core activities include: Operating a theatre showcasing and producing professional theatre, providing a stage for many local organisations and welcoming over 65,000 people annually Working in excluded and isolated urban and rural communities, co-creating, and sharing stories and experiences for fun, for growth and for change. Partnering with a network of local organisations to put culture and inclusion at the heart of local economic regeneration and community health and wellbeing. We are currently recruiting for a number of volunteer opportunities: The main duties of the Front of House volunteer are: -Welcoming patrons to the theatre and making sure they have a wonderful experience throughout.

Your Love Rara Volunteers

We are a not for profit community interest organisation supporting young people and children's mental health and wellbeing. Our Volunteer roles vary from organising and hosting workshops and assisting with community fundraising projects, face painting, entertainment and supporting local charities and events. We are seeking volunteers to support our community hub learning skills such as customer service, stock taking, cashier skills, hosting and organising. We also have volunteer opportunities for our up and coming projects such as our youth group. A fantastic opportunity to be involved in exciting projects and activities which make a positive difference for children/young people’s mental health and wellbeing and the community. On-Air Presenters or Music Production Volunteers

Wave Radio is a broadcasting service for the wellbeing of patients at Dr Gray’s Hospital -- and by broadcasting online, they aim to bring the community into the hospital and the hospital into the community. This volunteering opportunity is also a great one if you have a love in music. They are not just looking for people to present on air, but would also welcome people who have a bit of spare time to catalogue music or music production. For people interested in any of their presenter slots, please know these programmes can be pre-recorded for broadcast at a later time. Right now, volunteers can do their shows from home, through the studios at Dr. Grays. Volunteers who have an interest in specific musical genre (i.e./Classical, show tunes, soul etc. ) or have a wide musical taste can find out more about how to help with their breakfast, afternoon and early evening programmes.
