Description

We are seeking to increase the experience and skills of our Board, particularly in relation to fundraising / HR / organisational development / quality assurance. If you have an interest or experience in any of these areas and can spare a few hours a month we'd love to hear from you. Our Board meet up for 2hrs every 6 weeks and have overall responsibility for the governance of the project.

Organisation aims and objectives

Our aims are to support people with dementia, and their carers, in the Corstorphine area ( including Clermiston and Carrickknowe). Our services include social club type day care; outreach support service ( one to one ); carers support; information and advice.

Restrictions

Experience required: Ideally experience of fundraising, HR, organisational development or quality assurance.
Travel details: Our Board of Directors meet at Carrick Knowe Church, 118-132 Saughton Road North, Edinburgh, EH12 7DR every 6 weeks. Meetings generally start at 9.45am and last for 2 hours.
Minimum age: 18

Expenses details: Receipts to be given to the Project Manager who will reimburse via bank transfer
Training details: A new member of the Board will attend training which includes, Good Governance, Becoming a Company Director etc.
Support: Wheelchair Access/Disabled Access Toilet

Board Member

As a Director/Charity Trustee you will join other Directors with varying skilsl, knowledge & expertise. The Board provides strategic leadership and governance for the charity, members and beneficiaries. Principle responsibilities include: Proper and appropriate use of funds and ensuring funders' needs and obligations are met; Ensuring financial stability through active fundraising participation; Ensuring the organisation complies with its Articles of Association; Compliance with relevant legislation. e.g Care Inspectorate, OSCR, Companies House etc.; Protect and manage the property of the organisation; and Appoint and support employees, where the need arises. Use specific knowledge or experience to help the Board reach sound business decisions through attendance and participation at board meetings and follow up sub-committee meetings. Participate in other tasks when required to meet the needs of the organisation. In addition, there are several roles where staff or Board responsibilities are nor clearly defined but rather a joint one eg. Promoting the organisation.
