We are currently looking for additional crew members to join our team of enthusiastic volunteers based in Ratho, to assist with welcoming our passengers onto our boats for their canal cruising experience. You will then cruise with other members of the team ensuring an enjoyable, safe and comfortable experience for all on board. Cruises run in the mornings and afternoons (occasional evenings) and normally last 2 - 3 hours max. Many members only crew for one of the sessions, and only on their preferred day(s) for volunteering. Full training will be given ~ you may even be given the opportunity to drive the boats (under supervision of course !!!)

The service the volunteer will offer involves re-tubing and replacement of batteries and domes to those with ‘mould type’ NHS Hearing aids. The volunteer will provide practical help for presenting patients with hearing aid queries. Key Tasks: Replace the tubing of ‘mould type’ NHS hearing aids if possible. Replace the dome if needed. Supply replacement hearing aid batteries. Provide contact details of where further help or information can be obtained. Signpost to the Audiology Department, Kings Cross Hospital those patients whose hearing aid problems cannot be resolved by the procedures the volunteer is trained to do. Provide a friendly face and practical help for all presenting patients with hearing aid queries. Complete details of the service provided and of those requesting support.

If you’re a keen rummager and like things to be neat and tidy, then we have a role for you - helping in our retail stock room to sort the fantastic donations we receive behind the scenes. If you love a bit of ironing, then master the steamer and watch those wrinkles disappear (it’s surprisingly therapeutic!) or become a tagging extraordinaire, allowing customers to understand what item they are purchasing. Whether you’re a lover of vintage clothing, films, books, vinyl records or stunning jewellery – or perhaps you just fancy the company of other friendly volunteers away from the shop floor whilst making a difference - our retail stock room role is the place to be behind the scenes. *Say hello to the team: Funding for researchers begins at your local charity shop. Fresh Community Wellness is a growing grassroots charity, registered Scottish Charity Number, SC051346. We operate out of Aberdeen city, working within a (S.I.M.D) high neighbourhood to create lasting change and build a legacy for the future. Predominantly in Seaton neighbourhoods and outdoors, we work with volunteers/residents, with a salutogenic approach to community wellness.
