Citymoves Dance Agency SCIO is a regional dance charity based in Aberdeen, in the North East of Scotland. Our charitable purpose is to lead positive impacts through dance. The organisation was established as an independent Scottish charity in 2015. We’re committed to making continued improvements to how we work, across all parts of the organisation. We strive to remove barriers so that people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can experience the benefits of a life enriched by dance. The next period will see us deepening our commitment to artists, audiences, and participants across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, and thinking about how we best serve our communities. *About the role Citymoves’ trustees are responsible for the governance and strategy of the charity. We welcome applications at any time, from individuals with a variety of skills. Experience in any one or more of the below areas would be particularly welcome: • Finance and fundraising • Knowledge of the local Aberdeen ecology • Running an arts or community organisation We welcome both new and experienced trustees from across the UK. We are interested in people who are enthusiastic about learning, and who would like to contribute to the development of dance in the North East of Scotland. *Time commitment Trustees are expected to attend the quarterly Board Meetings and one strategic away-day per year. We also have a Finance Committee who meet quarterly, and an Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Working Group. Other working groups are formed subject to need. Meetings are held on Zoom. This is a voluntary, 3-year appointment, with reasonable travel expenses covered. We also have a learning budget and are committed to supporting the development of our Trustees. Excellent support and relevant training is provided to all Board Members. Trustee training for board members is through an online onboarding process. As SISG, we currently have 14 hearing hubs in Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Girvan, Alloway, Largs, Arran, West Kilbride, Saltcoats, Kilwinning, Cumnock, Kilmaurs, Galston and Kilmarnock. We also support 27 battery pick up points across North, South and East Ayrshire libraries. We also carry out visits to over 2,000 older people with hearing and/or sight loss throughout North, South and East Ayrshire each year. We wouldn't be able to carry out all this work without the help and support of our volunteers. New Board Members for Local Charity S.I.S.G Charity based in Ayr are looking for new Board members who would be able to attend monthly board meetings in Ayr. The time commitment would be 1.5hrs each month and the meetings take place at our offices in Suite 4, Beresford Court, Beresford Lane in Ayr. Travel expenses will be given for any travel involved in this voluntary role. Previous volunteering experience, social or health care experience, business experience would be beneficial. NODA Ayrshire works to support members of communities across Ayrshire to help each other at the end of life. We are a registered charity made up of compassionate volunteer companions who kindly volunteer their time to sit with people who are dying in their final hours. Our volunteers provide companionship and a listening ear to anyone who needs support to ensure no-one is left feeling alone or isolated. We are currently looking for more board members/ Charity Trustees with a wide range of skills and experience, to join our committed and passionate team, providing governance and strategic direction. To enable the organisation to meet its aims, Trustees should perform the following functions: Set and maintain the vision, mission and values of the organisation. Develop direction, strategy and planning. Ensure the organisation has the structure and resources for its work. Establish policies and procedures to govern organisational activity, including guidance for the board, volunteers and staff. Establish systems for reporting and monitoring. Manage risk and ensure compliance and accountability with the governing document, external regulators and the law. Make certain that the financial affairs of the organisation are conducted properly and are accurately reported.
