Description

The RAF Association is a member-led, welfare charity that exists to ensure that all members of the RAF community are supported, when they require it. The caseworker's role is at the heart of this charity objective and volunteers undertaking this role will be helping us to deliver this support to the RAF community. needs - this can include anything from helping them to complete a form, applying for funding for a wet-room or new white goods. regarding finances and health conditions. You would be required to provide clear and precise information on these topics. A RAF or forces background is not essential, and we welcome applications from all areas of the community.
What's in it for you -
This is an opportunity to play a key role in helping the RAF Association deliver valuable support to members of the RAF community and their families. You will receive ongoing support provided by both the Volunteering and Case work Team. Upon completion of the training course you will achieve a Level 2 Information and Advice qualification accredited through the AIM Qualification and Assessment Group. Further/refresher training is also available.

Organisation aims and objectives

The object for which the Association is established is to promote, through the comradeship engendered by its members, the welfare by charitable means of all serving and former members of Our Air Forces, their spouses and dependants, together with the widows and widowers and dependants of those who died whilst serving or subsequently.

Case Work Volunteer

A Caseworker is someone who carries out work for the Royal Air Force Association on a voluntary basis by gathering information, asking questions and completing necessary forms and by doing so, you will make a real difference. You will also work closely with the Area Welfare Officer to complete each case successfully. What’s in it for you This is an opportunity to play a key role in helping the RAF Association deliver valuable support to members of the RAF community and their families. Further/refresher training is also available. Frequency & commitment details: 3 days of initial training, with one day refresher training to take place every 3 years. Cases vary in the time that is needed to complete them. Conversations with beneficiaries can take around 1-2 hours and the subsequent forms, reports and follow ups depend on the complexity of the case. The role is subject to a completed application form, interview, reference checks and PVG check prior to attending the training course.

Volunteer Cook (Meal Makers)

Food Train is a registered charity, voluntary organisation and social enterprise. Since 1995 Food Train has been making daily life easier for older people, providing vital services to those who are no longer able to manage independently. Our aim is to support older people to live independently at home. Our preventative services address the difficulty older people face getting their weekly grocery shopping, doing jobs around the house and the growing isolation that comes with failing health. We also aim to provide a wide range of supported volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Would you like to volunteer to help older people in your local community? We are looking for folk to volunteer to cook and share a home cooked meal with an older person on a regular basis.

Ward Volunteer

Ward volunteers can choose to help with serving teas and coffees or to help during mealtimes. Having extra support during these busy ward routines is invaluable and extremely helpful to all on the ward. Tea Trolley • Moving the trolley from room to room. • Providing patients with a drink of their choice. • Chatting to patients and taking an interest in them. • Passing on any useful information to medical staff. Mealtimes • Prepare the patient area for mealtimes. • Help distribute meal trays to patients and return trays when meals are complete. • Cutting up food for vulnerable patients and assisting with patient feeding. • Provide general assistance as requested by staff.
