Baby Steps 20+ are a small charity shop based in Falkirk. We employ adults with disabilities and provide upcycled baby and children's equipment at affordable prices, with a small carbon footprint. We are currently recruiting Trustees to join our Board of Trustees. We are seeking team players who have a strategic vision, independent judgement, a willingness to give time and commitment to help support and develop the organisation. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with knowledge and experience in: Fundraising; Grant Writing; Digital Marketing, Communications and E-Commerce; Business/Accounting; Retail/Merchandising; Third Sector Organisations. Applicants will have the experience and skills to ensure that the charity continues to develop and provide high-quality long-term services. As a Trustee, you will be required to ensure the good governance of the organisation, which will involve attending monthly (online) board meetings and our AGM, and participation in relevant projects. You will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction and governance of the organisation. Your insight, expertise and decision-making will directly influence the overall impact and effectiveness of our work. In return, you will have the chance to develop your skills in leadership and governance, strategic thinking, financial management and decision making. The Agnes Hunter Trust SCIO is an independent charitable trust based in Edinburgh. They offer grants to registered charities in Scotland that specifically support disabled people. With an annual grants budget of around £550,000/yr, the Trust assists charities’ service delivery and core costs, and strive towards open and trusting grant-giving practice. In order to maintain our range of relevant skills and experience at Trustee-level, they are seeking a committed individual with direct working knowledge of the third sector to join the Board. As a funder, they wish to appoint a Trustee who understands the challenges facing the charities we support – perhaps someone working as a service provider and/or an individual with direct or indirect lived experience of disability. Sound knowledge of charity governance would also be advantageous, however previous Board/ Trustee experience is not essential and we welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds. Training and mentoring can be provided. The current Board of 7 members meets in Edinburgh 4-5 times per year for half-day sessions, plus other ad-hoc meetings online or in-person. The initial tenure is for 5 years, renewable for a further 3 years. The position is voluntary but reasonable expenses are reimbursed. MISS (Miscarriage Information Support Service) is a registered charity. We are a miscarriage support service covering all of Scotland for anyone who has experienced baby loss. We are looking to recruit trustees to the MISS board who have a mix of skills and experience to bring to our existing board. This is to enhance our current board and any background is welcome including retail, HR or IT. Board meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis and virtually, therefore there is no preference to location or where you are based. All help makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated. Your insights, expertise, and decision-making will directly influence the overall impact and effectiveness of our work.
