Volunteer Walk Leader

  • VO95580

Description

We are recruiting new walk leaders, helping older adults to get active, maintain or improve their levels of walking, fitness and wellbeing. Our walks range from low-level and slow paced to moderate/brisk paced, often ending with a cuppa and conversation. The walks take place on Friday mornings into early afternoon.

Organisation aims and objectives

We are a community-led health project in South West Edinburgh. Our aim is to improve health and well-being within the communities of Broomhouse, Sighthill and Parkhead by providing a variety of social health activities. We provide a range of free services including a volunteer–run fruit and vegetable co-op, a home delivery service, cookery classes, physical activities including exercise classes and a walking group. We also run a confidential health drop-in service, and run the local Timebank. Local people are central to the planning and delivery of all our services. We are a small but vibrant organisation with a friendly atmosphere amongst our close team of staff and volunteers. We were shortlisted for the ‘Commitment to Health category of the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2015.
