Our Morningside Save the Children Shop has been a much loved part of the local community for years and continues to be hugely popular, thanks to the kindness and generosity of the volunteer led team.

All you need is some enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference. The role is diverse, taking place on the shop floor and behind the scenes. Volunteer activities include customer service, creative merchandising, preparing items for sale and working as part of a team.

Save the Children is the world's independent children's rights organisation. We're outraged that millions of children are still denied proper healthcare, food, education and protection and we're determined to change that.

3 hours per week - but we can be flexible

Restrictions

Experience required: No previous experience is required as all training will be provided on an ongoing basis. Activities include customer service, cash handling, creative merchandising, preparing items for sale and working as part of a diverse volunteer team.
Travel details: Save the Children Shop 390 Morningside Road Edinburgh EH10 5HX Situated opposite the Clock in Morningside and accessible by several bus routes including 5,11,16,36
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Travel expenses can be reclaimed on acceptance of receipt - on the day or combined weekly/monthly - whatever suits the volunteer best.
Taster available: Yes
Training details: We provide initial induction training and then operate a buddying system thereafter - dependant on the needs of the individual volunteer.
Support: Wheelchair Access/Disabled Access Toilet

Food Train is a registered charity, voluntary organisation and social enterprise. Since 1995 Food Train has been making daily life easier for older people, providing vital services to those who are no longer able to manage independently. Our aim is to support older people to live independently at home. Our preventative services address the difficulty older people face getting their weekly grocery shopping, doing jobs around the house and the growing isolation that comes with failing health. We also aim to provide a wide range of supported volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Would you like to volunteer to help older people in your local community? We are looking for folk to volunteer to carry out and deliver a grocery shop for an older person on a regular basis.
