Urban Shop Volunteer - Save the Children, Nicolson Street

Our Edinburgh Nicolson Street Save the Children Shop is a modern, contemporary, urbanised street store, unlike any other traditional charity shop you have ever seen - We want you to join us in raising much needed funding and awareness to help improve the lives of children all over the world!

No previous experience is required as all training will be provided. Activities include customer service, creative merchandising, working as part of a large and diverse team and having fun!

Save the Children is the world's independent children's rights organisation. We're outraged that millions of children are still denied proper healthcare, food, education and protection and we're determined to change that.

3 hours per week - but we can be flexible

Restrictions

Experience required: No previous experience is required as all training will be provided on an ongoing basis. Activities include customer service, creative merchandising, sorting through donations, preparing items for sale, cash handling and working as part of a large and diverse team.
Travel details: Save the Children Shop 112 Nicolson Street Edinburgh EH8 9EJ On the main bus route between Princes Street and Cameron Toll - buses include 5, 7,37,47,X62
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Travel expenses can be reimbursed on acceptance of receipt - this can be done on the day or weekly - whatever is best for the volunteer.
Taster available: Yes
Training details: We provide initial training which covers all processes and the health and safety and we then offer buddy/ongoing training - tailored around the individual and their particular interests and skill sets.
Support: Wheelchair Access/Disabled Access Toilet

Since 1995 Food Train has been making daily life easier for older people, providing vital services to those who are no longer able to manage independently. Our aim is to support older people to live independently at home. Our preventative services address the difficulty older people face getting their weekly grocery shopping, doing jobs around the house and the growing isolation that comes with failing health. We also aim to provide a wide range of supported volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Would you like to volunteer to help older people in your local community? We are looking for folk to volunteer to carry out and deliver a grocery shop for an older person on a regular basis.
