Description

For people leaving hospital, adjusting to life at home can be a difficult time. Helping someone get their essential shopping, pick up their prescription or get the heating turned on can make all the difference for them to feel safe at home.

This service runs from Monday - Friday 9.00am- 5.00pm

We would like you to be able to :

volunteer for at least 2 hours a week within the above times, working with individuals for a maximum of 12 weeks

Driving licence preferable, but not essential. If you will be driving for this role to have held a driving licence for at least 2 years which allows you to drive in the UK

We will also have a conversation with you to discuss any restrictions that may still be in place in your region and identify any adjustments you may need. Restrictions

Experience required: Warm and friendly with empathy for others. Good communication skills. Encouraging and supportive. Enjoy meeting and spending time with new people. Can work independently and as a part of a team. Able to commit to a regular shift.

Training details: The generic Welcome to the British Red Cross Training is divided into 2 parts, Firstly, an online e-learning training programme that you do from home. The course covers subjects such as Safeguarding, Information Governance, and Code of Conduct. This is then followed by a 5 hour Zoom induction course. The day covers what we do at the British Red Cross; how we fit into the wider Red Cross movement, our ways of working, and how we support our people. It is an interactive day that brings to life who we are as the British Red Cross through testimonials, exhibits and shared learning. In addition to the above training there will be additional training to support you as you start your new volunteer role.
