Coffee Shop Assistant

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking to recruit Coffee Shop Volunteers to assist in the day to day running of the coffee shop who have a positive and welcoming attitude, good communication skills and want to be part of an enthusiastic and motivated team.
Experience is not required however any experience in catering or hospitality may be of benefit. Barista training will be provided to you to make and serve our range of coffees.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  1. Operating the till.
  2. Serving customers in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  3. Cleaning the kitchen and coffee shop area in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations and Guidance.
  4. Undertaking the preparation of the food and beverages served in the coffee shop.
  5. Ensuring that the coffee shop is clean and tidy and creates a pleasant and welcoming environment.
  6. Reporting maintenance issues to the Coffee Shop Manager.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The ideal volunteers will be enthusiastic, able to work on their own initiative and be able to work under pressure.

The following qualities and skills are important:

  1. Able to provide a friendly, high quality service to customers.
  2. Good people and communication skills.
  3. Able to work as part of a team.
  4. A commitment to equal opportunities and to treating all individuals who visit or work in the shop with dignity and respect.

  7. Able to lift bags and boxes.

Organisation aims and objectives

Calderwood Baptist Church aim to promote faith and religion through the local community and also provide a place of worship for the people of the area.The Church also works in partnership with EK Community Food Bank. Food parcels can be collected and donations of non-perishable food can be made at the Church's weekly drop in session on Wednesdays 11am-1pm.

Food Pantry Customer Assistant

Your role as the Food Pantry Customer Assistant is to help customers who come into the Food Pantry, offering information and assistance as they are enquiring, browsing or purchasing food. Our Food Pantry is the first one in South Ayrshire based in Ayr Town Centre. A Pantry is a membership scheme aimed at helping people make their money go further by reducing their food shopping bills and providing advice and support. Local Pantries mean people can bring down their food shopping bills, and access good food, whilst freeing up more money for other essentials and enabling tight budgets to stretch a little further. A Pantry offers dignity, choice, community and food quality. Your role will be to assist new and current members learn about the Pantry and do their shopping. We will give you full training on how it works, equipment used, systems to follow etc. You will always be volunteering as part of a team of volunteers with a staff team leader present. As there will be a café on the premises, there will be an opportunity to benefit from Barista training. DUTIES: The role of the Food Pantry Customer Assistant will be as follows: • Assist customers to the Pantry, engaging in conversation • Offer information on how the Pantry works • Offer signposting to other services where necessary • Operate till with cash / card handling • Restock and rotate shelves and fridges as required • Clean and sanitise according to guidance • To commit to a minimum of 3.5hrs per week

Café Volunteer

Friockheim Community Hub is the former Eastgate Primary School and is a fully inclusive project involving the whole community which is owned, managed, and operated by the community itself as a registered charity. The Hub aims to support all age groups and to provide a place for residents to get together socially and groups/clubs to meet (Young People, Elderly, Disabled, Mother & Toddlers, Pre-School, & Children). We are currently looking for volunteers to help us cover our café within the Hub at Eastgate, angus DD11 4TG. Some tasks would include: · To assist with the running of the Lochside Café including: - preparing light snacks, sandwiches etc. as required · Observing and complying with all relevant Health & Safety & Hygiene requirements · Meeting, greeting and serving customers · Cashing-up and the handling of cash - keeping finance records of all Café transactions · Washing-up/clearing tables and ensuring the Café seating area is kept clean and tidy. We are looking for a couple of amazing volunteers who could help spare a couple of hours on days we are open. Monday to Friday – from 12pm til 3pm Saturdays – from 11am til 2pm Or if you are a cook and would like to help us by volunteering to help prep or bake cakes. Monday to Friday – from 9am til 11am

Coffee and Chat Volunteer

We have opened our cosy space at the Pioneer Cafe, at the Community Church Hall for anyone who is keen to get out of the house for a few hours to meet other people, relax and have a chat. Volunteers can help socialise, chat and support staff serve teas/coffee, warm soup and snacks at the cafe. Volunteers are not expected to undertake care sector roles, but support individuals by chatting, socialising, helping out in the kitchen, set up, tidy the cafe and clear tables, etc. Could you offer a few hours per week?

Kincorth Community Centre Hub Volunteers

The Kincorth Community Centre Hub has great volunteer opportunities to assist with a range of activities at the Hub. Volunteer roles include supporting our busy community cafe, which has rapidly taken off, we currently open 9.30 -2.30, but our aim is to run a breakfast and supper club, as well as have the cafe open for activities in the evening. We have a diverse community that has a lot to offer e.g.: art classes/exercise group/dance class/music lessons and we are always open to new ideas-we are more or less a blank canvass. Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Level 2 Hygiene Certificate will be offered to those who want to volunteer/cook in the café. Any other training would be reviewed and provided if proved relevant. A fantastic, enjoyable opportunity to volunteer and help make a real difference for people and the community.
