Volunteer For Wellbeing

Description

If you are looking for social and nature connection, want to improve your wellbeing while doing purposeful tasks in the outdoors and are interested in learning new skills, then this programme could be for you.

We start with a check-in, a cuppa and then get on with what needs to be done. That could be chopping firewood, cooking the lunch over the fire, working on the allotment, spoon carving, making rustic furniture, removal of invasive species and much more… We also spend a fair bit of time chatting around the fire with a cuppa, if that’s what’s needed to support each other’s wellbeing.
There’s no pressure to do anything that you don’t enjoy, as long as you contribute in some way to our wee community in the woods.
We have lunch together in the woods, this is an important part of the session. Volunteers will be given their lunch (at no cost) however if they would rather bring a packed lunch that is fine.

Skills/Experience:
No specific skills or experience are required. We ask that volunteers are willing to contribute in their own way to our woodland community. If you do have relevant skills that you would like to share with the group then we can try to make space for this & allow skill-sharing. Please come prepared for the outdoors, so warm clothes & lots of layers in the cooler months. We do have tarps up, so we can be sheltered from the rain.
A certain degree of fitness is required because there is a walk into the site along uneven & often muddy ground. Seating on site is basic. A lot of the activities we do are physical.
