The Connects service offers a volunteer matching service for grocery shopping, telephone befriending and meal delivery. Help to combat feelings of loneliness, isolation and malnutrition amongst older people (55+) by becoming a Volunteer Cook. You do not need to be a Jamie or Nigella to get involved – just the ability to prepare an extra portion of your meal once a week, to drop off with an older neighbour and have a light hearted blether with them. The role is fun, flexible and can be done at a time that suits you and your matched member! The Role: · Paired with an older person to prepare an extra portion of your home cooked meal and deliver it to them at their home. · Have a wee chat, agree times and dates for the next meal and serve up/help put the meal away as required. · To report back to Food Train Connects team and complete all required documentation after each visit. · To report any matters of concern to Food Train staff · To inform Food Train Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints · To maintain confidentiality · To represent Food Train in a professional manner to customers and the wider community

*Dementia Café Volunteers* We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and caring volunteers who can help us at the Living Well Cafés we have at Newhills Church, Bucksburn AB21 9SS, Oldmachar Church, Bridge of Don AB22 8PR, High Church Hilton, Aberdeen AB24 4NQ and Ferryhill Parish Church, Aberdeen AB11 6UD. You will receive ongoing training and support including Dementia Friends Sessions, working in partnership with Alzheimer's Scotland and NHS Grampian to help you understand what dementia is and how it may affect people. This is a great opportunity to help make a real difference and all assistance is greatly appreciated. The Laurandy Day Care Centre in Wick are looking to recruit volunteers to help the elderly users of the centre. Volunteers can help socialise, chat and support staff serve Teas/coffee and lunch in the centre. This is an opportunity to get experience in the care sector and interact in a friendly social capacity. Volunteers are Not expected to undertake care sector roles, but support individuals by chatting, reading helping with bingo etc. The Day centre is open weekdays, could you offer an hour or two per week?
