Description

Volunteers play a vital role within GCBN. We currently have over 40 fully-trained volunteer responders working across Grampian to support bereaved children and their families.
If you live within Highland, are over the age of 18 and eligible to join the PVG Scheme and would like to help a bereaved child as they come to terms with the loss of a loved one then we’d love to hear from you!

Volunteer Responders: Our trained volunteers receive referrals and visit families within their own homes to provide appropriate support and guidance to the families this can include direct work with the young person/s involved.

As many hours as you are able to work 1 visit could be 1 hour if engaging with one child. Up to 2 hours for families where there is more than 1 child. There could be some weekend work to help with Activity Days. These are days where bereaved children come together to take part in a fun activity (tubing, bowling, trampolining etc).

Restrictions

Experience required: • Live in the Highlands or Islands • Are responsible, committed and reliable • Are able to work as part of a team • Have a genuine interest in raising awareness of the needs of bereaved children and young people • Are energetic, and willing to help organise fundraising events • Work within ARCHIE Foundation and ACBS’s policies and procedures
Travel details: We try to match families with volunteers who live locally as well as whom we feel are best suited to the needs of the family.
