Are you interested in archaeology and heritage? Do you enjoy working with children aged 8-16? Would you like to help organise our YAC sessions and develop and deliver fun, hands-on and creative activities and visits? If so, being a YAC leader might be for yoiu. We are a team of around 5 existing volunteers who seek a new YAC leader to oversee the branch activities and coordinate volunteers. If you want to be involved but in an assisting capacity then the Assistant leader role might be for you.

We usually meet once a month on a weekend morning. Planning and organising could happen outwith these times to fit in with the volunteer's own schedule. The YAC Leader wouldn't need to be present at all sessions, but ensure there are enough other volunteers available to to be present.
Certain additional support needs might be able to be accommodated. However the person would be responsible for the safety of children and would need to be capable of doing this.
Experience required: Enthuasiasm, Planning & Organising skills, email and internet research skills. Team Co-Ordination skills (for Leader role). Excellent communication skills, particularly with young people. Good team worker.
Training details: You will have informal training sessions with the local YAC leaders to explain how our branch operates. YAC UK organise child protection and first aid training, as well as additional training opportunities on different topics throughout the year.
