Description

Muiravonside Country Park combines 170 acres of woodland and parkland with a demonstration farm, play parks, river walks and historic ruins. Our new country park volunteer group will carry out a range of conservation tasks around the park including maintaining paths and trails, litter picking, planting trees, and creating wildlife habitats.

What's involved? A variety of outdoors tasks including path maintenance, weeding, dead hedging, using hand tools, litter picking, tree thinning, tree planting and habitat creation.

Restrictions

Volunteers aged 16/17 must attend with a parent or guardian.
Experience required: must be able to follow instructions and adhere to the council's health and safety policy. A can-do attitude is a must! All training will be provided.
Travel details: Muiravonside can be accessed by car and there is ample car parking available on site.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Taster available: Yes
Taster details: Prospective volunteers are encouraged to visit Muiravonside for a chat with the ranger to find out more about the group, and are very welcome to come along for a taster session to see if it is a good fit for them.
Training details: New volunteers will be given a health and safety induction and talked through the risk assessment. The volunteer group will always be led by a ranger who will provide support and training on tasks.
