Moray School Bank are looking to expand our team of volunteers! As part of our new project, ‘It Takes a Village’ (ITAV) we aim to improve and build community connections across Moray. Alongside our school uniform referral programme and other existing services, we will be looking into ways of promoting recycling of school uniform and other clothing items to reduce waste and ease financial costs for all families. For us to be able to achieve our aims, It Takes A Volunteer! We have a host of roles and opportunities to suit all types of volunteers and there is the flexibility and options of booking 2-hour slots (an ideal taster session!), volunteering from your own home or come and join a community group! If you are enthusiastic and willing to learn new things, full training and support to develop new skills will be provided and if you already experienced, we would love to have your skills to share. Current roles include; Donation Processing volunteers, Winter Campaign volunteers, Events & Fundraising, Social Media volunteers, Youth Volunteer Team, Community Garden volunteers and Mini-Bus drivers. Join Our Warehouse Team The New Start Highland lorries collect a huge range of household items that are generously donated by the local community. We have a busy warehouse with lots of roles from unloading vans to cleaning, sorting, repairing and restoring everything that comes in. This means that you can expect to do anything from assembling a bed, to washing china, or folding linen. No two days are the same! The work that you do helps us to create our starter packs of kitchen items, bedding, or cleaning materials to give people a great start in their new homes.

Volunteering with Night Before Christmas is a meaningful way to help some of Ayrshire’s most vulnerable children and families. It’s also an opportunity to develop and enjoy new experiences. You’ll connect with your community, meet new people, learn new skills and share what you know. All our voluntary roles are supported: people come first. We’ll give you an induction and relevant training, and you’ll always have space to raise issues. You don’t need specific skills for many of our roles. All we ask for is enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. Enjoy driving? Want experience in a Criminal Justice setting? Or perhaps you already have some experience and want to contribute in another way… Sacro’s Travel Service in Edinburgh is recruiting for more volunteer drivers. The Travel Service aims to provide a regular transport service to many of Scotland’s prisons and the State Hospital at Carstairs. The service is part of Sacro’s Throughcare Service enabling prisoners to maintain important contact with their families and friends which research has shown helps to reduce reoffending. We pick up our registered passengers from their home address and take them to their arranged visit before returning them home again completely free of charge. Sacro’s work could not be successfully conducted without the dedication and skill of its volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering with us, we would ask you to be able to commit to volunteering for at least a year and be regularly available. We reimburse our volunteer drivers for their mileage at a rate of 50p per mile.
