At Healthcare Improvement Scotland we have created a new role for volunteers. We are looking for a team of volunteers from the Grampian area to give feedback on local experience of accessing Health and Social Care services. Those services could have been provided by the health board or by a local health and social care partnership. We may also ask questions about proposed policies or legislation in relation to health services in Scotland and ask for input on work we are planning to do to help us get it right.

How you take part could vary depending on the activity but we will provide support to make sure that your involvement is carried out in a meaningful way. Volunteers will be supported to take part with some introductory information and an informal chat to identify any further requirements you may have in order to be able to take part. If required, travel expenses will be paid.

As a volunteer with us you can help improve the health and care experience of people receiving care in Scotland. This is a new volunteer role and so far we have volunteers in Fife and now we are looking to get people involved in Grampian. In time we hope to have People’s Experience volunteers in all parts of Scotland.

This role may give you opportunities to meet other volunteers in your local area and in other parts of Scotland, and be part of a community of volunteers within Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

We are particularly keen to involve people with disabilities, people who are black, Asian or from a minority ethnic group and people who are living on low incomes as we know that any of these things can cause differences in people’s health. It is important to us that we are able to listen to a broad range of people to hear about their different experiences of health and care.
