Assisting the Day Care staff in the care of the older people including passenger assisting, settling into the dayroom, serving and clearing up after meals, assisting people into and out of chairs and encourageing them to particfipate iin the social activities. Training will be given re passenger assisting, manual handling, food hygiene and personal care.
Aim to provide advice, information, social and therapeutic care to older and disabled people in an area of south Edinburgh.In particular, Prestonfield and the surrounding district.

4 - 5 hour per week for 3,6,9,12, months
Experience required: ESSENTIAL - physically fit, can handle a wheelchair,
DESIRABLE - good communication skills, likes working with and being with other people, patient
Travel details: The activties and Group take place in Prestonfield Neighbourhood Centre purpose built for Day Care for older people. Disabled access and disabled facilities throughout the building. Bus Stop outside door LRT buses 2, 14, 36.

Expenses details: Volunteer would submit bus tickets for copying and for petrol for a car mileage covered coming to and from the Centre or on other Project business.
The Volunteer will also be offered whatever the clients are having for lunch.
Training details: Volunteers would be paired with a qualified worker and supervised in the Dayroom. Covid Hygiene Training ,Manual Handling, Food Hygiene then Passenger assistant Training would be offered within the first few weeks then on going on line and other practical training offered as required or requested eg First Aid and Defibrillator Training.
